Valencia, the province in the middle of the Comunidad Valenciana, is bordered in the north by the province of Castellon and in the south by the province of Alicante. Originaly it was an agricultural province with products
like citrus-fruits and rice. After a deal with the Ford Autoindustries a Spanish plant for manufactoring Ford-cars was opened in October of 1976. This created a lot of other industries, connected to the car-industries.

The capitol of the province and also capitol of the autonomic Comunidad Valenciana is Valencia-city, after Madrid and Barcelona the third city of Spain, founded by the Romans in the year of 138 with the name "Valentia Edetanorum".
The city has a very rich culture which is caracterized by the many rulers and the by them introduced cultures.

Valencia was one of the important Roman commercial towns and by its location it always remained an
important trade-centre for Spain. Apart from the wonderful architecture, museums and historical remains,
a visit to the worldfamous ceramic-factory of Lladro is absolutely recommanded.
Also because of the rice-culture and the location at the Mediterranean Valencia is called the birth-place of
the "Paella". This is a rice-dish with fish and shell-fish or with chicken and rabbit. It is the "people-food"
number one in the rural areas and very popular with the tourists. (recipe for paella)
Last but certainly not least the "Fallas" should be mentioned. Spain has many feasts and traditions (fiestas)
and the Fallas is a one of them. The Fallas of Valencia are worldfamous.
